Concept: Open sandbox in the sense that "much" of the game is in-character discussion of policies to implement. As Zero wryly put it, this is basically canonizing events based on internet arguments.

Time commitment: Let's take a look. I had this and the opening to this written about a week ago, but never had the time until today to sit down and post it. It's why there are literally two big chunks of time investment on my part - the start and the finish.
For the rest of you, as always, it's what you choose to do.

Implementation: This RP is set sometimes after Hyuuga but before the full-scale Abyssal invasion.

Players create a persistent character thematically appropriate for game. A completely in-character forum is created dedicated to that organization. The organization is an affiliate of a specific shipgirl agency lobbying/implementing regional, provincial, or even national policies. Once enough players have accumulated in a display of interest (I am looking for a number great than five to kick this thing off), a separate, OOC thread will be created where players can vote the specific prompt that they would like the RP to be ran. Each RP will be ran for a period of time.

Sample prompts include mundane things like as "creating a campaign to improve public health by reducing smoking in our population" to "ensure that America can maintain food sustainable for a population to be determined if the Abyssal can blot out the sun for 2/3rds of the continental US." The player group, a panel of experts, is given a timeframe and a reasonable chunk of funding from the parent agency to accomplish the task. The overall success and failure of each individual resolution (i.e. the RP) will be determined on the criteria of "common sense" (think of AMBER-like systems where the default action is successful unless proven otherwise).

I will provide the prompts and of course, the resolution to each event.

Persistence: As this is just an experiment, any and all policies implemented here remains separate from the main Pacific universe, but is considered canonical for the "world" in which this community exists in. All player-created characters exist as a permanent fixture of this world (to be determined by players), and each player may only have one character at a given time.

Authority: flat structure. All players have equal say in the resolution of any potential conflicts (no elected representatives given the small scale of the event) and are reasonably expected to resolve the matter in character.

Timeline of implementation:
- Pitch game idea.
- Recruit players.
- Display hook - the opening of the game.
- Player create profiles (can be as simple as a single line describing age & profession)
- Morgane provide prompts.
- Players vote on prompts, name the world, and etc.
- Game begins.
- Stuff happens.
- Game ends, with resolution of particular implementation implemented as dictated by players. Because this is a simple one-off event, the implementation will be "instant." Should this be fun and be a persistent feature, it is probable that you will only begin to see the fruits of your labor some time after.

For this first run I'm not expecting it to be terribly long. Chances are it'll last maybe a few weeks at most.

--------
It might seem a bit contradictory suggesting that characters created for this game'll become a permanent fixture if I'm running this as a oneshot. Well, I think it's best not to get too ambitious, but this does represent a way where we can potentially have our readers create something entirely of their own. As a parallel universe, what's created here is its own thing with its own canon.

For me, I think it's a perfect way to test the waters. I've been thinking about this for a long time now, and I think - lifting a term from biology - non-overlapping magisteria could finally provide a way to resolve the eternal paradox of "how much should the creators be interacting/be allowed to interact with their supporters."

Well just a few questions

Do we need to have a character sheet of sorts?
What factions/organizations are available?
Who is going to organize the RP?
Is it a text RP? Choice RP?

and finally where can I sign up? x)

I am interested but I've never been very good at forum RPs so don't expect much from me.

I can see that the thread was made quite a while ago, but I love the concept of creator/supporter interactions for in-character development.

I would like to join, but seeing the number of people that have posted for this, it's only around half of the target number, so I'm not sure if you would still like to continue with this? But considering how it's a sandbox and it's a experiment outside of the main-verse, I think we could give it a try, not as a panel (the decision-making for the affiliate) at the moment, given the number of people that interested currently, but as individual field agents under those specific affiliate group for now (the ones carrying out the decisions).

What are everyone's thoughts on this? It's not yet the complete version of what is wanted, more of a lite, but I'm sure we can squeeze some pretty amazing content out of this project. Might get some more people interested in it as well when we move along with the RPs. I mean, I remember you saying that Pacific only started out as 3 people, right Morganne? We need to get those passions running again! :lol (At least new ones for this mini sandbox!)
